About the awards

These awards recognise, publicise and support local businesses in St Albans. The selection and judging process is:

  • open public nomination of retailers in six categories
  • nominated retailers are sent a window poster and tested by 'a team of mystery shoppers'
  • awards committee* shortlists five retailers in each category
  • winners chosen by awards committee

2011 committee members: 3 councillors Roma Mills, Melvyn Teare and Salih Gaygusuz, Eric Roberts (St Albans Civic Society), Sandra Oldfield (St Albans District Chamber of Commerce), Maria Cutler (council officer) and Martin Buhagiar (former Review editor).
